Primary

The ABFPRS is pleased to present this state-of-the-art self-assessment tool to help surgeons appraise their strengths and deficits in areas of practice performance. It can also be used by surgeons who plan to participate in the primary examination for certification in facial plastic surgery administered by the ABFPRS or by surgeons who wish to focus their areas of study in facial plastic surgery to prepare for primary certification in otolaryngology or plastic surgery. This self-assessment tool contains the following features:

  • Examinees may take this exam two times for $100. (This allows surgeons to take the exam the first time to assess strengths and weaknesses. After results are given, surgeons can study the recommended references and take the examination again to determine if they have adequately addressed areas of concern.)
  • Exam content mirrors the blueprint for the ABFPRS primary certification exam.
  • The examination contains 50 questions.
  • This exam is time-limited to 2 hours.
  • Questions will cover basic science, diagnosis, and medical and surgical management.
  • Each examination page contains five questions. You may change your answers while you are working on each page. However, once you click the NEXT button at the bottom of the page, your answers will be saved and you may not go back to that page to change them.
  • Examinees may log in to this exam on a computer, log out, and then log in on a different computer (using the same password) at another time to complete this exam. You may log in and out of the practice exam a total of three times. Each time you leave the exam, press the LOG OUT button and the exam timer will stop the time. It will resume when you log back in.
  • Examinees will receive immediate exam results once they have completed the exam or the allocated time has ended.
  • Examinees will receive a list of articles recommended to address specific areas of weakness for questions answered incorrectly.
